We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that our Bootle Strand regeneration project won the ‘Future Ambition Award’ at the Insider Media Liverpool City Region Property Awards. This award highlights how transformative the project will be, breathing new life into Bootle. It will truly shape growth and attract future investment to revitalise the town centre.

Sefton Council was awarded £20 million by Central Government from its Levelling Up Capital Projects Fund, for the first phase of repurposing the Strand shopping centre and wider transformation of Bootle Town Centre.

K2 Architects have been appointed as Master Planner and Lead Designer, working alongside Avison Young, WSP and OPEN (Optimised Environments).

The project is progressing well, demolition plans for the first phase have been submitted to Sefton Council for Planning Approval. The demolition scope involves the removal of the Palatine, Public House and part removal of Stanley Road Retail units. This will be followed by a further planning application in early 2024 to create a new and transformative town square that will restore a sense of civic pride and ownership by the community. Additionally, it will unveil a new southerly vista down to the Canal, creating an extraordinary high-quality public space that functions in harmony with the meanwhile space and enhances the overall experience.

We’re proud to be part of Bootle’s journey, the award is an incredible win and a testament to the ambition of Sefton Council, our dedicated team and the local community. It’s also great to reach our first major milestone, the Strand Transformation project will be delivered over a number of phases, an approach which recognises both the complexity of the change required and the need to create the right foundations for long term resilience. It’s not a set model that fits all: it is about having ambition and a deliverable vision that does not gentrify but really understands the needs of a community and what works or doesn’t.
